Deep Vein Thrombosis Animation

Deep vein thrombosis is a medical emergency in short it is also known as DVT. As the name suggests it is a blood clot in deep veins of leg, some times these blood clots are dislodged and go in lungs known as pulmonary embolism, the condition becomes very serious even death can occur, here patient will complain of chest pain, shortness of breath, irregular heart beat, dizziness.

Common symptoms of DVT are pain, swelling and redness of the leg and dilation of the surface veins, red skin.

Signs which are positive in DVT are

Homan’s Sign: Dorsi flexion of foot elicits pain in posterior calf muscles.

Pratt’s Sign: Squeezing of posterior calf muscle elicits pain.
