Omphalocele is a defect in which muscles of abdominal walls are not formed resulting in herniation of abdominal content like intestines, liver etc in a sac which is formed of peritoneum usually present at the region of umbilicus. Omphalocele is also associated with cardiac anomalies. Usually omphalocele is associated with edward’s syndrome or patau syndrome.

Screening of omphalocele is done by ultrasound or alpha feto protein detection
