Radius Ulna Fracture

by admin on September 18, 2010

Fracture of radius and ulna occurs due to fall from height or direct blow on forearm as can be seen in accidents, sports injuries, quarrels.

Fracture of forearm require surgery as hand is highly unstable so cast cannot be applied to it, it is treated by placing plates and screw upon it, some surgeons used to put nail in this kind of fracture but by doing so rotational stability can not be maintained, so plating is the best treatment by giving two separate incisions on ulnar and radial side of forearm.

Complications which can happen are nonunion, painful implant, or infection.
